Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using Fruugle (fruugle.co.za), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you may not use our service.

2. Description of Service

Fruugle is a consumer reporting platform that allows users to submit and browse reports about misleading advertising, fake discounts, and products that do not match their claims. The platform is designed to help South African consumers make informed purchasing decisions.

3. User Accounts

To submit reports, vote, and comment, you must sign in using a Google or Facebook account. You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. You must be at least 18 years old to create an account.

4. User Content

By submitting a report, comment, or image to Fruugle, you:

  • Warrant that the content is truthful and based on your genuine experience as a consumer
  • Grant Fruugle a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to display, reproduce, and distribute the content on the platform
  • Accept that your display name will be publicly associated with your submissions
  • Retain ownership of your original content

5. Prohibited Conduct

You may not use Fruugle to:

  • Submit false, fabricated, or deliberately misleading reports
  • Defame, harass, threaten, or intimidate any person or business
  • Submit content that is obscene, hateful, or discriminatory
  • Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity
  • Use automated tools to scrape, spam, or manipulate the platform
  • Attempt to interfere with the security or operation of the platform
  • Use the platform for competitive sabotage or to settle personal disputes unrelated to consumer experiences

6. Content Moderation

We reserve the right to remove, hide, or modify any content that violates these terms or that we reasonably believe to be false, defamatory, or harmful. We may suspend or terminate accounts that repeatedly violate these terms.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

Fruugle is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. Reports submitted by users reflect the opinions and experiences of individual consumers. Fruugle does not verify the accuracy of user-submitted reports and does not endorse any claims made in them.

We do not guarantee that the information on the platform is accurate, complete, or current. Users should exercise their own judgement when making purchasing decisions.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by South African law, Fruugle and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the platform or any content posted on it.

9. Intellectual Property

The Fruugle name, logo, and website design are the property of Fruugle. User-submitted content remains the property of the respective users, subject to the licence granted in Section 4.

10. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of the platform shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the South African courts.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
